Arrival and Accommodation

Luka and Andres’ guesthouse from Icelandhorsetours is reserved for us from June 18 to June 23, 2025. We will be fully catered with food and drinks. Luka will cook for us and will be our contact person for all questions regarding accommodation, sightseeing, riding, and everything else. The guesthouse has three rooms with bunk beds. Room allocation will, of course, be coordinated with participants. We have a shared kitchen and bathroom. More information can be found at www.icelandhorsetours.de.

The number of participants is limited to a maximum of nine. Travel arrangements are independent, and flights must be booked by participants. If you need assistance, feel free to ask. From Reykjavik, you can take the bus to Sauðárkrókur every morning. Bus number 57 departs from Mjódd bus terminal toward Akureyri at 9 a.m. for about €65 per person, offering the chance to enjoy Iceland’s beautiful scenery for about five hours. There are short breaks along the way. More information is available at www.stræto.is.

Upon arrival in Sauðárkrókur, you will be picked up and taken to our accommodation at Helluland. Departure follows a similar plan, with a daily bus from Sauðárkrókur to Reykjavik at 12 p.m. Alternatively, you may book a rental car. If you come by bus, you won't need your own car, as we will drive you to all planned activities.

Important

We will be on the go a lot, so a basic level of physical fitness is essential. We won’t be doing a fitness program, but we will likely be tired in the evenings.

We do not accept liability for theft, loss of personal items, or damage to equipment such as photography gear or valuables. It is recommended to take out international health insurance if you don't already have it.

All photographers are warmly welcome, regardless of skill or knowledge level. Our aim is to combine the beauty of Icelandic horses with Iceland’s breathtaking landscapes, with the primary focus on the horses. This is not a competition; anyone seeking that may find this trip unsuitable. Our photographer is not perfect either and looks forward to gaining new and exciting insights.

You may use the photos you take commercially, as long as no people are visible in them. When publishing, you only need to name and link us as the organizers.

Ideally, you should have a camera with a zoom lens, such as a 70-200mm. A wide-angle lens, like 35mm, is also recommended for landscape photography.
